Quote of the Week

The month is soon ending and June will be upon us! With June comes warm weather and Summer, so it’s no wonder this quote is a light and fun one:

A day without laughter is a day wasted

-Charlie Chaplin

I absolutely love this quote! Sometimes I’ll remind myself of it when I’m at school and think “Did I laugh today?”. It’s like a goal I have that I haven’t been entirely conscious of until I will myself to remember. But it’s always great to laugh, whether because something is funny, or it just feels like a weight off your shoulders. But no doubt, when you’re glum, laughing definitely  helps!

Have a great last day of May!

Favourite Book Quotes I

Happy first day of March! To start off the new month, I have a special edition of Quote of the Week! I’m going to be putting several of my favourite book quotes on this post… I know I haven’t updated much with this feature so I’m hoping all of these will make up for the absence! So without further ado, here’s this week’s quotes:

You have so many extraordinary gifts; how can you expect to lead an ordinary life?

-Lousia May Alcott, Little Woman

Here’s another one from Little Woman:

Be comforted, dear soul! There is always light behind the clouds.

-Louisa May Alcott

Now, for some Anne of Green Gables! Here’s my all time favourite:

Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?

– L.M Montgomery

And this one is a quote that is so very true:

I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.

– L.M Montgomery

Of course we’re going to need some Pride and Prejudice quotes! I suppose it wouldn’t make do if we didn’t start with the novel’s opening line:

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possesion of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.

-Jane Austen

And here’s another one that I find sums up Mr. Darcy at the beginning of Pride and Prejudice…

She is tolerable; but not handsome enough.

-Jane Austen

So I think you’d understand when Elizabeth Bennet thought this of him:

A most disagreeable, horrid man, not at all worth pleasing

-Jane Austen

Phew, that’s a lot of quotes! And yet there is so many more I’d like to share! So I decided that this is only part one, and I focused on more classic novel quotes than others. Next time I’ll have more modern books, so watch out for part two!

Quote of the Week

What beautiful yet gross weather we’re having! Many people have mixed feelings about snow. For some, it’s disruptive for their commute, but for others, it’s a beautiful creation that lights up their faces when it arrives. So, without further ado, I bring you this week’s quote:

Snowflakes are one of nature’s most fragile things, but just look at what they can do when they stick together

Well, that was this week’s quote! Hope everyone can enjoy the beauty of snow this winter!

Quote of the Week

Love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful, and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.

– Jack Layton

I really like this quote because it is an encouraging one. It teaches us that with a positive disposition we can really make a difference in the world. It may seem like a small action, but even a smile can go a long way. I know that if I’m feeling a little down, if someone smiled at me it sure would make my day.

Remember that whenever you’re angry, fearful, sad, or anything that falls into that category, a change in attitude can really make you feel better. Here’s another quote I really like:

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless”

-Mother Teresa

This also is a very nice quote as well, because referring to the smile thing, words also can go a long way. Always stay positive, because you never know what it can bring!

Quote of the Week

Here this week’s quote:

Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps, means a little bit more.

-The Grinch

I’m getting into the holiday spirit!

I chose this quote because it teaches everyone that Christmas isn’t just about presents, but everything that comes with it.

I really like this quote, and it is special coming from the Grinch, because he has finally learned the meaning of Christmas.

I believe the holidays are a time for family and thankfulness because nothing is more important.

Quote of the Week

This is going to be a weekly feature on Zoie’s Bookshelf, because I love quotes!

This week’s quote may be familiar to any of you Harry Potter lovers out there:

Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.

– Albus Dumbledore

I think this quote sends out a positive message to everyone, because it tells us that even when you’re down, there is always going to be a place where you can find happiness.

“If only one remembers to turn on the light”

I believe this part means that you will always find that light, but the first step to doing so is you making the change.

“If only one” is referring to you. You will always get that light and happiness, but you must be the one to find it.

So, that was this week’s quote! Stay tuned for next week’s!
